Barry County E9-1-1 accepts applications year-round. When a position becomes available, the job listing will be posted on our agency Facebook Page, county-wide publication and on Indeed.
Applications are available on our website and at the Barry County E9-1-1 Administration Office.
1st Stage - Must pass a full criminal background check
2nd Stage - Online Exam and a Typing Test with a minimum of 35 words per minute
3rd Stage - Oral Interview
4th Stage -Observation in Dispatch
Upon meeting all qualifications, applicants invited to be interviewed will be interviewed by at least two members of the administration staff, most often the Executive Director and the Operations Manager.
After the interview, potential candidates will be scheduled to sit in with a member of dispatch and observe. This will give the candidate the opportunity to ask questions to staff. This session is critical to Barry County E9-1-1 as well to the potential candidates as some recruits realize the enormity of the task ahead of them and conclude that dispatching may not suit them.
After the dispatch observation, the Executive Director, with input from the Operations Manager, Dispatch Supervisor and Team Leaders, will choose the best candidate(s) for the open position(s) and make an offer of employment.
